ReierParts Plug & Play Rain Sensing Wiper Kit for Saab 900 Classic and 9000

The rain sensor works as follows:

1. Turn the ignition ON with the wipers OFF, the sensor will display its operation setting via a blue LED (snow setting), green LED (rain setting, recommended) or LED OFF (interval mode, sensor turned off). Switch modes with a short press of the button on the sensor.
2. With the ignition ON and the wipers OFF, choose the level of sensitivity by long pressing the button on the sensor (more than three seconds). The sensor has four modes; 1 blink indicates low level, 2 or 3 blinks indicate medium level, 4 blinks indicate high level sensitivity.
3. Now, using the stalk behind the steering wheel, turn the wipers to interval setting. This will turn on the rain sensor.

Programmable interval function (only if sensor is turned off)

1. Using the stalk behind the wheel, turn the wipers to interval setting. The standard interval will be 5 seconds.
2. If you want to adjust the interval time, turn the wipers off after the first wipe, and switch interval mode back on after the intended interval. The time between turning the wipers from interval to off and back to interval will now be your selected wiper interval. This interval can be set anywhere between 0.5 and 45 seconds.

This rain sensing wiper kit is a plug & play install on all cars that use a VW style wiper relay. This kit replaces the commonly found VW number 19 or number 99 wiper relay for a new relay with a sensor attached to it. This makes it a plug & play kit for cars like the Saab c900 and 9000, Volvo 850 and C/S/V70, VW Golf II and III, various Audi models, etc.

Important notes:

• This rain sensor functions as an automatic interval speed. The quickest speed it can control the wipers at is at an interval of 0.5 seconds. In heavier rain you will still have to move the stalk to the continuous wiping setting.
• The rain sensor itself needs to be stuck to the inside of the windshield in a position that the wiper blades swipe clean. Do not push it all the way up to the window seal, as the wipers will not clean the glass there and that will result in the sensor not functioning correctly.
• Rain sensors function based on light sensor input (reflection change when a drop hits the sensor area), this means that low sun position (direct sunlight into the sensor) can have an influence on how the sensor reacts.
• For optimal results it is important to use good quality wiper blades that do not streak on the windshield and don’t skip on the windshield at high speeds.
